INFLUENCE OF WORKFORCE DIVERSITY RECRUITMENT ON PRODUCTIVITY OF SELECTED PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS IN MOMBASA COUNTY

Abstract


The scope of this study was to analyse the influence of workforce diversity on productivity of public organizations in Mombasa County. The study covered selected public organizations in the period of February to June of the year two thousand and seventeen. The study used a descriptive design. In this study the researcher targeted public organizations based in Mombasa. The population of this study consisted Human Resource departments in all public organisations in Mombasa County and a number of employees from each of these organizations. Stratified random sampling was used since each unit of the population has an equal probability of inclusion in the sample and there is no opportunity for human bias.  Primary data methods were used in this study. Questionnaires were used. Before analysing the data, was edited, coded and entered into excel worksheet, where the researcher was able to use Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) to analyse the data. The findings from the study established that majority of respondents were educated. The study concluded that the findings were in line with the observation made and they depicted that implementing strategies and decisions in context to work force diversity in public organisations. The study recommended in relation to level of education, that the work force in the public organization should not be discriminated in the recruitment and hiring process, a comprehensive system of recruiting personnel in the organization based on the age, for the recruiting of personnel should be the same so as to make both genders in work place proportionate and the growth and advancement opportunities should be made created so as to bridge the gap between the male and female genders.
