JANUARIU MUTISYA KIMILU, DENNIS JUMA, PhD

Abstract

The successful performance of a project holds great value, particularly because it emphases the need for continuous improvement. The primary objective behind project performance is to increase the success of the project’s outcome. Organizations tend to face a number of challenges which may require them to constantly monitor so as to enhance the quality of their work. Among the many areas they need to focus on is to improve their identification and management of risks so that they do not negatively impact the performance of such projects. The main aim of this study was to assess the role of risk management practices on the performance of civil servants housing projects in Kenya. The study adopted the resource mobilization theory. The study used the descriptive survey design. The targeted population included the management staff of all the civil servant projects. A census was adopted to identify 20 respondents who participated in the study. A semi-structured questionnaire used to collect primary data. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were utilized to analyze the quantitative data. The results from the study revealed that project risk management significantly influences the performance of civil servants housing projects in Kenya and recommends that managers should focus on minimizing the risks associated with projects so as to ensure a seamless completion of construction projects in Kenya.
